About The Position

This is a ground-floor role on a small team building something new, focused on extracting, structuring, and enriching proprietary data that powers intelligence products. The role sits at the intersection of the newsroom and the product team, creating company profiles, deal activity timelines, sentiment data, and sector benchmarks from exclusive reporting and survey research. The position offers significant ownership and visibility.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in a research, data, or analyst role (data/intelligence company, consulting firm, investment firm, media research team, or similar environment; internships count if substantive).
  • Strong data skills, comfortable working with messy, semi-structured data.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Fluency with AI and LLM tools (ChatGPT, Claude, or similar) for daily workflow (research, data extraction, summarization, prototyping).
  • Research rigor: ability to find, verify, and contextualize information, with a focus on accuracy.
  • Familiarity with the tech and business landscape (understanding of funding rounds, major players in enterprise AI, value of proprietary intelligence on private companies).
  • Clear communication skills: ability to write concise summaries, explain datasets to non-technical stakeholders, and flag issues proactively.
  • Builder mentality: comfort with ambiguity, motivation to shape a new product from the ground up.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SQL, Python, or similar tools.

Responsibilities

  • Extract and structure intelligence from editorial reporting, surveys, and proprietary datasets into clean, consistent formats (company profiles, deal timelines, executive moves, sector benchmarks).

  • Enrich and validate proprietary data by cross-referencing reporting against public filings, funding databases, and industry sources.
  • Help develop new intelligence offerings with survey data from a network of senior tech and finance leaders, identifying trends and signals.
  • Work closely with reporters and editors to identify stories and datasets with the highest commercial value and ensure data quality.
  • Support product development by preparing datasets, building prototypes (dashboards, reports, data feeds), and helping define buyer needs.
