About The Position

The goal of this project is to help prepare for an ADDER-OpenMC coupling. The student will work on creating an open-source full core reactor model available for development and testing purposes of an ADDER-OpenMC coupling. They will also determine the computational resources needed for efficiently running ADDER-OpenMC and the effort required for an existing project to convert from running an ADDER-MCNP model to an ADDER-OpenMC model. Additional tasks may be assigned to broaden the student's experience or if primary tasks are completed early.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited institution, OR graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months, OR actively enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution.
  • Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.
  • Must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must pass a screening drug test.
  • Must complete a satisfactory background check.
  • The entirety of the appointment must be conducted within the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Create an open-source full core reactor model for ADDER-OpenMC coupling development and testing.
  • Determine computational resources needed for efficient ADDER-OpenMC execution.
  • Determine the effort required to convert an existing ADDER-MCNP model to an ADDER-OpenMC model.
  • Undertake additional tasks to broaden experience or if primary tasks are completed early.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits are part of the total rewards package.
