About The Position

Hospice of the North Coast is seeking a Part Time Resale Store Assistant Manager to support the daily operations of our resale shop. This role is ideal for someone with retail leadership experience who enjoys hands-on work, community interaction, and the opportunity to step in and support management as needed. This position assists with day-to-day store operations and is expected to perform key duties of the Resale Shop Manager during absences or as operational needs arise.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of retail experience, including supervisory or lead responsibilities
  • Experience with merchandising, pricing, and customer service in a retail environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organized, dependable, and adaptable
  • Comfortable leading volunteers and supporting a mission-driven environment
  • Ability to operate a cash register and process transactions
  • Valid driver's license and current auto insurance
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in a related field

Responsibilities

  • Supports the day-to-day operations of the resale shop, including opening and closing procedures as assigned
  • Assists with volunteer recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision
  • Provides excellent customer service and resolves customer concerns promptly and professionally
  • Steps in to perform key Resale Shop Manager duties during absences or as needed
  • Assists with merchandising, pricing, and product displays to maximize sales
  • Helps maintain inventory flow, donation intake, and organization of the sales floor
  • Engages with donors and customers, creating a welcoming and positive experience
  • Assists with ordering supplies within approved budget guidelines
  • Ensures volunteers understand their roles and the mission of Hospice of the North Coast
  • Maintains volunteer documentation and supports annual evaluations as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support resale shop operations
  • Demonstrates reliability, punctuality, and flexibility
  • Manages multiple responsibilities while meeting productivity and quality standards
  • Communicates respectfully and professionally with staff, volunteers, and the public
  • Adapts well to changing priorities and busy retail environments
  • Complies with hospice policies, procedures, and applicable regulations
  • Upholds high standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability
  • Performs duties in alignment with the Hospice of the North Coast Way, consistently
