Requirements

  • Associates’ degree
  • Minimum two years’ experience in Sexual and Reproductive Health education topics or related fields
  • CPR Certification (BLS - Child, Infant, Adult) AHA approved
  • Availability and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Valid California driver’s license and vehicle insurance
  • Reliable transportation, to travel for meetings and/or to gather information for reporting purposes
  • Minimum two years’ driving experience
  • No more than 2 violations or a single ticket/accident value at more than 1 point on driving record
  • Familiar with general training concepts, demonstrated ability to teach and coach new skills
  • Knowledge of community health centers, public assistance programs, state and federal regulations, and managed care systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to create a comfortable, supportive learning environment
  • Ability to address staff training needs and resolve any issues in a professional manner
  • Commitment to the educational success of staff
  • Ability to articulate, project voice and be clearly understood when speaking in front of a group
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary for communication with patients/clients, Clinicians and other staff

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the implementation, maintenance and monitoring of Title X Family Planning programs across all VCC sites, in collaboration with the HPC Youth Development Program Manager.
  • Assist with the oversight and management of the work plan, ensuring objectives and scope of work are being met and develop and implement corrective action plans/ strategies as needed.
  • Responsible for training of clinic staff on Title X Family Planning and FPACT workflows and health education protocols.
  • Serve as Title X and FPACT Sexual and Reproductive Health Coordinator, including co-facilitation of monthly Sexual and Reproductive Health Quality Assurance meetings, and attending required Title X and FPACT meetings and audits.
  • Plan, develop, and design health education and training programs related to sexual and reproductive health, including follow-up and observation of health educators.
  • Responsible for the development and delivery of Medical Assistant (MA) new hire and refresher curriculum on sexual and reproductive health.
  • Facilitate workshops and trainings to group and/or individuals, throughout VCC sites.
  • Complete daily/weekly and monthly reports to include training database, health educator observations, certificate renewals, and new hire and refresher trainings.
  • Provide comprehensive, high quality, evidence-based sexual health education and counseling in the areas of reproductive health, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS, male/female anatomy, sexual orientation, pregnancy prevention, birth control methods, healthy relationships, etc.
  • Update employees on all sexual and reproductive health programs by providing information, direction and monitoring of procedural changes; ensure all staff has received adequate training.
  • Work with Clinic Managers to promote integration of sexual and reproductive health throughout all clinic sites.
  • Act as a liaison between the Health Educators/Medical Assistants and Clinical Managers/Operations.
  • Collaborate with clinic management, Health Promotion, Clinical Informatics, and Perinatal Health Workers (CPHW) to increase the number of patients utilizing VCC’s sexual and reproductive health services.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Informatics to review and implement clinical workflows related to sexual and reproductive health.
  • Assist billing department in correcting service code errors, and ensure proper patient program enrollment as it relates to sexual and reproductive health.
  • Coordinate and contribute to Reproductive Health-related grant proposal development efforts, as requested.
  • Assist with the completion of monthly and quarterly reports based on funding agency due dates.
  • Participate in the development of sexual reproductive health education goals and strategies, as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate compliance with policies, regulations and codes of conduct in all aspects of job responsibilities.
  • Travel to all clinic locations as needed to observe and instruct clinic staff on sexual and reproductive health, as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of sexual and reproductive health programs, including Family PACT enrollment qualifications.
  • Perform research on relevant topics; and develop and/or revise curriculum modules and/or presentation materials as appropriate.
