About The Position

The Iowa Department of Administrative Services (DAS) – Central Services Enterprise (CSE) is seeking a Reproduction Equipment Operator 2 to support enterprise-level print operations for state agencies. Requirements

  • 6 months’ experience in the display or printing of computerized reports.
  • Experience equal to two years of any combination of recognized training and full-time work in the operation and maintenance of offset and/or digital xerography reproduction equipment; OR employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to eighteen months of full time work as a Reproduction Equipment Operator 1.

Responsibilities

  • Operate high volume mail inserter machines to fold and insert printed material into envelopes to fulfill customer agency mail job requirements.
  • Operate postage meter to apply US Postal Service postage to envelopes.
  • Perform operator maintenance on inserters as needed.
  • Place service calls to fix malfunctions requiring technical support.
  • Set up mail inserter for each job’s requirement.
  • Make folder adjustments and machine adjustments as needed to ensure the inserter is operating properly.
  • Set up cameras and make adjustments to read integrity marks on the documents for critical match material.
  • Load printed material on conveyor and ensure it is kept in order throughout the run of the job.
  • Load appropriate envelopes and inserts in the inserter stations.
  • Set appropriate job settings for the inserter to pull from the station.
  • Place stuffed and metered envelopes into mail trays.
  • Measure placement of address and barcode in the envelope to ensure it meets the US Postal Service regulations.
  • Maintain piece counts for all mailings being mailed on a daily basis.
  • Prepare presort mailings for the US Postal Service to include appropriate paperwork.
  • Be knowledgeable of the US Postal Services mail requirements.
  • Retrieve necessary material to process each job you will work on. This is to include but not limited to envelopes, printed material, mail trays & sleeves and carts.
  • Operate multiple, high-speed, high-volume digital printers to fulfill customer agency print job requests. This includes, but is not limited to, on-demand print job requests, mainframe print job requests (including warrant printing), and print job requests formatted in Solimar.
  • Transfer print job files from the network to the high-speed printers.
  • Load correct paper stock into the printer and configure the printer for finishing per print job specifications.
  • Monitor job printing and resolve printing issues (e.g. jams) as they occur.
  • Perform operator maintenance on printers and place service calls to fix malfunctions requiring technical support.
  • Maintain impression count and waste destruction log sheets as required by management.
  • Receive and inventory paper stock.
  • Request replacement supplies in a timely manner.
  • Possess print related certification (iGENS, IRS, etc.) required by DAS. If required print related certification (iGENS, IRS, etc.) is not held, acquire certification per DAS direction.
  • Operate folder to prepare printed material for review by supported stakeholder customers.
  • Perform finishing operations including stitching, cutting, drilling, punching, laminating, and shrink wrapping.
  • Hand insert printed output into large (9x12 or greater) envelopes.
  • Provide quality control of printed output to ensure it meets customer specifications prior to delivery to customers.
  • Deliver output when required to customers.
  • Fully comply with State, DAS, and team policies.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers, vendors, and team members; ensuring effective, timely, professional, and courteous communications.
  • Actively participate as a team member on committees, work groups, and projects.
  • Attend team meetings.
  • Ensure outcomes are communicated to all involved.
  • Maintain technical skills through ongoing research, reading, and training offered by DAS, the State, and vendors.
  • Share knowledge/skills and cross-train with coworkers and other DAS staff.
  • Provide other assistance as necessary in support of the Print and Mail operations.
