About The Position

MercyOne is seeking a Representative Customer Service HME to join their team. This role is responsible for managing all processes related to Home Medical Equipment (HME) referrals. This includes gathering patient and prescription information, verifying insurance benefits, ensuring all necessary documentation is received, entering patient and order details into the Brightree system, and communicating delivery/pickup arrangements and financial responsibilities. The position also involves handling general office duties and responding to HME customer inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner. The role requires interaction with clients, families, third-party payers, physicians, referral sources, community members, and hospital staff.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent graduate.
  • Adheres to the principles of caring and expected behaviors outlined in MercyOne Medical Center's Model of Caring and Trinity Health's Code of Conduct.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years’ experience in a customer service and/or office area preferred.
  • Prefer background in home medical equipment or other related medical/health field.
  • Prefer background/experience in medical equipment, HME.

Responsibilities

  • Performing all processes related to Home Medical Equipment (HME) referrals.
  • Obtaining all necessary patient and prescription information.
  • Verification of insurance benefits.
  • Ensuring receipt of required documentation.
  • Entry of patient information and order information into the Brightree system.
  • Communication of delivery/pickup arrangements and financial responsibility.
  • Performing other general office duties as assigned.
  • Responding to HME customer inquiries/concerns and performing research and follow-up in a timely, professional manner.
  • Receiving and processing inquiries and referrals from internal and external sources for products/services provided by MercyOne Dubuque Home Medical Equipment utilizing appropriate policies, guidelines and standards.
  • Providing pricing information, confirming medical criteria for equipment and investigating other equipment and supply needs with the referral source.
  • Performing reimbursement procedures related to HME such as insurance verification, obtaining physician orders and necessary documentation, etc. in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assuring all information is complete and accurate.
  • Generating and entering order information into Brightree.
  • Ensuring compliance.
