Reporting and Technical Accountant
About The Position
The Reporting and Technical Accountant supports the preparation of key internal and external financial reports, including hands-on preparation and review of the client's audited annual financial statements. These include Management Discussion and Analysis, consolidated statements of net position, consolidated statements of revenues, expenses and changes in net position, consolidated statements of cash flows, notes to the financial statements, and required supplementary information. The role ensures technical accuracy, compliance with applicable accounting standards, and timely delivery of reporting requirements, and serves as a technical accounting resource for GAAP and FERC matters.
Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, GASB, and FERC accounting and reporting frameworks.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, including the ability to independently resolve complex accounting issues.
- Ability to interpret, apply, and clearly communicate technical guidance to financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical accounting guidance on GAAP, GASB, and FERC requirements to support accurate and compliant financial reporting.
- Assist in preparing, reviewing, and performing quality control on the audited annual financial report and related disclosures.
- Research, assess, and implement new GAAP, GASB, and FERC accounting and reporting requirements relevant to the client.
- Evaluate and document the impact of new accounting pronouncements and regulatory changes on financial statements, disclosures, and reporting processes.
