About The Position

WHIZ is seeking a creative journalist to join our news team. Must be a community-minded, strong storyteller with the ability to multi-task and work hands-on in broadcast news.

Requirements

• Strong communication skills are required.
• Must be flexible with schedule.

Nice To Haves

• Degree in Journalism or Communication preferred but will consider related experience.
• Knowledge of Adobe Premiere and Panasonic equipment preferred but will train the right individual.

Responsibilities

• Report and edit daily news content for broadcast and the web.
• Front stories live in studio and in the field.
• Conduct interviews, research topics thoroughly, and write clear and compelling scripts.
• Establish and maintain key contacts for covering local content.
• Maintain and grow a social media presence.
• Produce newscasts as assigned.
• Engage with the community and viewers through social media, appearances, and events.
• Provide radio content as needed
