About The Position

Uncover the truth behind the numbers and bring high-impact financial journalism to life as Business Maverick’s next Mid-level Reporter! The Business Maverick Mid-level Reporter will be responsible for weekly reporting, including breaking news, features, and trend analyses. This role requires developing and pitching story ideas, conducting investigative journalism, building and maintaining a network of contacts, and participating in webinars and audience engagement activities. The reporter will ensure high editorial standards and work closely with the editorial team to produce impactful and visually engaging stories. We are seeking a dynamic and self-motivated storyteller with a minimum of four years of experience in Financial, Economic or Business reporting to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for uncovering accountability stories that matter to South Africans, uncompromising ethics, the drive to meet tight deadlines, and the curiosity to generate compelling, original ideas.

Requirements

• Advanced diploma in journalism, communications, economics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in business journalism or a related reporting role.
• Strong storytelling, research, and writing skills.
• Ability to generate and execute original story ideas independently.
• Familiarity with data journalism and investigative reporting techniques.
• Proficiency in digital publishing tools and content management systems.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with hosting or participating in webinars and panel discussions.
• A working relationship with AI tools is advantageous.
