About The Position

Oklahoma Watch is seeking an aggressive reporter to cover either evictions and homelessness OR race and equity in Oklahoma. The role involves digging out exclusive stories, writing clearly on complex issues, cultivating sources, and engaging with communities, including marginalized ones. The reporter will also be responsible for acquiring and analyzing data, producing visualizations, taking photos and videos, and actively using social media for reporting. The position is based in Oklahoma City, OK.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English or relevant field or a minimum of two years’ working experience as a journalist or reporter.
• Capable of maintaining an ethical and objective standard in news reporting.
• Ability to meet deadlines and accurately fact-check information.
• Excellent observation and judgment skills.
• Superb communication and networking skills, along with an aptitude to effectively extract information.
• Must have valid driver’s license and auto insurance.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with data analysis in Excel and/or Access.
• Experience producing visualizations in Tableau, Carto or similar programs.
