About The Position

KJRH, the E.W. Scripps NBC affiliate in Tulsa, is seeking a Reporter/MMJ. This is a nightside position, weekdays, and you will have a videographer the majority of the time. You still need to be able to MMJ. You'll be the face of the 10 pm show, fronting stories from the field. You'll be at the forefront of breaking news, enterprise reporting, and the stories that matter most to Tulsans. Requirements

• BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
• Generally, 3+ years of experience in a related field is preferred
• Computer literate, including newsroom computer systems
• Videography and non-linear editing experience
• Ability to use newsroom cameras to capture video
• Edit video on various editing systems
• Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
• Proficient at posting content to various platforms
• Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Employees work outdoors and may not be protected from weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company-required insurance limits

Responsibilities

• Gather and verify factual information for stories through interviews, observation, and research.
• Generate creative story ideas daily based on the station’s brand and strategic plan.
• Write, edit, and organize stories for multiple platforms.
• Go live when the situation warrants.
• Work cooperatively with photographers on assignments.
• Edit video and post stories on multimedia platforms.
• Capture video and still photos to best tell the story.
• Other duties as assigned.
