About The Position

The School of Sociological and Anthropological Studies is accepting applications for one (1) position of Replacement Professor. We are looking for candidates with expertise in the following areas: methodology and research design at the undergraduate and graduate levels; qualitative and/or quantitative research methodology practicums; work with civil society organizations, particularly in francophone contexts. Expertise in experiential learning is considered an asset. Priority will be given to candidates who are able to teach in both French and English from the outset. The University of Ottawa is recognized nationally and internationally as a leading university and the largest bilingual university (French and English) in the world. Located on the unceded territory of the Anishinaabe-Algonquin people, in the heart of downtown Ottawa, it contributes significantly to the economy, culture and quality of life of Canada’s capital.

Requirements

  • Hold a Ph.D. in Sociology. Candidates who are close to completing a Ph.D. may be considered
  • Demonstrate excellence or the potential for excellence in teaching and research
  • Active bilingualism (English-French) is an advantage at the time of hiring
  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Ottawa-Gatineau region
  • A letter describing their teaching and research experience and interests
  • A clear statement of their level of fluency in French and English
  • Applicants must be prepared to have three referees submit letters of reference upon request
  • Indicate if you are legally entitled to work in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Teaching six courses per academic year at the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Participating in academic and administrative activities
