About The Position

Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and Customer-focused Medical Device Repair Technician to join our team. From our lab in Lenexa, this role works as part of a large team of technicians who support our hospital Customers by assembling, testing, and repairing electronic components and systems for medical devices. You do not need to have previous experience working with medical devices; we will train you! Technicians have the ability to progress through technical levels as they learn, making this a great longterm career opportunity.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Mechanical/technical aptitude and hand-eye coordination are required.
  • Must be able to work occasional overtime, sometimes outside normal business hours (i.e. on a Saturday), based on Customer and business needs
  • 2+ years of work experience is required, including at least 1 year of relevant experience, or 1 year of experience at STERIS. All experience must be verifiable.
  • To be considered relevant, at least 1 year of work experience must involve some type of detailed, hands-on work with small or delicate components. Examples of qualifying experience include (but are not limited to): Using hand tools to repair, assemble, or test items with small parts, Small engine repair, cell phone or circuit board assembly, repair, testing, or re-builds, Detailed carpentry work, installation of home security systems, Nail technician work, sterile processing, industrial sewing, jewelry repair, or musical instrument repair/tuning
  • Ability to read and follow manuals, work instructions, job standards, and related documentation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and customers, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain a customer-oriented approach in all tasks and interactions
  • Ability to use basic computer skills to input data, navigate systems, and complete documentation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working under a microscope, soldering, and/or performing precision mixing/application of adhesives is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize small hand tools (e.g., screwdrivers, pliers, tweezers) for assembly and repair tasks
  • Operate microscopes and test equipment such as light sources and video processors
  • Perform hand soldering with precision and care
  • Read and follow manuals, work instructions, job standards, and related documentation
  • Communicate effectively with team members and customers, both verbally and in writing
  • Maintain a customer-oriented approach in all tasks and interactions
  • Use basic computer skills to input data, navigate systems, and complete documentation
