About The Position

Repair Shop Specialist, Staff – Technical Support Subject Matter Expert JOB SUMMARY This position provides technical support for transformer and associated equipment maintained and repaired by the Georgia Power Repair Shop for the Power Delivery organization. The successful candidate is a subject matter expert who will provide technical support, training, process and repair procedure development to Repair Shop personnel for in-house and field job tasks. Reports to: Tarvoris Williams Location: Georgia Power Repair Shop in Forest Park, Georgia JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide technical expertise for Power Delivery equipment. Provide the Repair Shop technical assistance and troubleshooting support. Provide training to Repair Shop on Power Delivery equipment. Provide leadership in promoting safe and efficient work practices. Analyze equipment performance and evaluate equipment condition. Proactively evaluate equipment for re-use, replacement, or upgrade needs. Proactively develop, review, and improve maintenance, storage guidelines, procedures, modifications, and repair methods to optimize Power Delivery equipment performance and reduce costs. Work with maintenance subcommittees to enhance the Southern Company and Georgia Power maintenance program. Serve as Repair Shop technical support for transformer repair / rebuild. This includes knowledge related to material, equipment and best practices regarding internal coil/core assembly, LTC and control operation. Provide Journeyman and Apprentice training concerning Power Delivery equipment repair. Assist Repair Shop Specialists in Inventory Management Participate in on-call rotation. JOB REQUIREMENTS Experience Requirements: Minimum 10 years experience with the construction, maintenance, diagnostic testing or repair of Power Delivery equipment is required. Experience with Power Delivery equipment internal inspection, repair, processing, failure analysis and diagnostic testing is required. Experience in inventory management is strongly desired. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: A high level of technical expertise in Power Delivery transformers and associated (breakers, regulators etc) equipment is required. Thorough knowledge of Georgia Power and Southern Company Power Delivery equipment maintenance practices, guidelines, and procedures desired. Requirements
