About The Position

Pratt & Whitney AutoAir is excited to announce an opening for a Repair Process Engineer. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a critical business within an expanding market and industry. The role will be responsible for day-to-day engineering support for a production cell at an FAA Repair Station. The focus is on translating technical requirements into process plans for execution by production mechanics and resolving any technical issues with the process and hardware.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree and 6+ months of experience in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Aerospace or Aftermarket industry; OR Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience in a combination of Process management / Statistical Process Control (SPC) / data analysis / analysis of variance / design of experiment / process risk analysis / PPAP / FMEA, control plans, root cause analysis (RCCA)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM field; Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience working with gas turbine engines particularly in an FAA Repair Station MRO environment involving the GTF family of engines
  • Aerospace Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) / FAA Repair Station experience
  • Experience developing repairs for composite materials
  • Experience in automation and robotic applications
  • Ability to interpret technical data, manufacturing drawings, and 3D models / Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance
  • Experience translating technical requirements (drawings / prints, manuals) to production-level work instructions
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, continuous improvement tools (CORE/ACE/SixSigma, QCPC and RCCA) and Kaizen workshops (Map, 5-Why, 6S, etc.)
  • Experience working with Microsoft O365 suite, SAP ERP, Solumina G7/G8 MES and CAD Software Experience (NX, AutoCAD)
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization and motivate teams to achieve business goals

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret engine manuals and other technical data to develop the methods and processes necessary for the repair and overhaul of complex aircraft engine components.
  • Write process plans / work instructions for execution by production mechanics
  • Plan sequences of operations, estimate time required, and create schedules
  • Evaluate out of tolerance or unknown conditions on aircraft engine components
  • Investigate, establish, and implement requirements for equipment, tooling, and material, including make or buy decisions and facility layout as required for new or revised products.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot process issues.
  • Provide technical support to operations.
  • Consult with outside engineering entities when required to resolve hardware or process issues
  • Coordinate multiple manufacturing and automation projects
  • Provide technical support and guidance to suppliers performing repair work
  • Analyze process data in support of continuous improvement
