About The Position

Vecima is seeking a Repair Center Technician responsible for advanced in-house servicing, diagnostics, and repair of company products at an established repair site or service center. This role identifies and resolves complex mechanical, hardware, software, and systems failures using established procedures and personally developed test methods. The technician performs calibration, testing, and quality assurance of repaired products, prepares technical reports, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. This role significantly contributes to product reliability, repair turnaround performance, and service quality.

Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized two-year Electronics Technology program, or equivalent.
  • Typically requires 5+ years of experience as a repair technician or in a similar technical capacity.
  • Advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex electronics and systems.
  • Ability to develop test plans, procedures, and custom diagnostic methods.
  • Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
  • Ability to train and mentor other technicians.
  • Solid understanding of ESD controls, safety standards, and ISO compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work within repair turnaround targets.
  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to resolve systemic issues is preferred.
  • Project management training or equivalent experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced setup, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting on a wide range of circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, hardware, software, and systems failures in returned equipment.
  • Complete rework on assemblies or systems in accordance with company workmanship standards.
  • Ensure all required repair center documentation is completed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain an adequate and functional repair center testbed to support repair work.
  • Create test plans and methods to identify root causes of field returns.
  • Develop and document test procedures, train other technicians on new or improved methods.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve systemic product issues.
  • Contribute to improvements in repair performance, productivity, and quality.
  • Follow all safety precautions when working with hazardous materials, heavy loads, electrical circuits, and equipment.
  • Adhere to Electrostatic Discharge Control (ESD) practices.
  • Monitor and support ISO standards compliance, including the Vecima Workmanship Standard.
  • Prepare technical reports summarizing findings and recommending solutions to unique or complex issues.
  • Utilize company resources to meet repair turnaround goals.
  • May develop test specifications, methods, and procedures from engineering drawings, blueprints, or diagrams.
  • May be assigned to production test and repair activities as required.
  • Represent the company positively in all internal interactions.
