About The Position

NaphCare is hiring a Repackaging Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team at our Corporate Headquarters located in Birmingham, AL. NaphCare Rx is NaphCare's in-house pharmacy dedicated solely to correctional facilities across the country. Connected by our operations management software and EHR, TechCare, NaphCare Rx pharmacists become an integrated, essential part of the clinical team, from electronic medicine orders and secure delivery to pharmacy consultation and review. NaphCare Rx also extends purchasing discounts and cost savings directly to our partners and employees. Under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, the Repackaging Pharmacy Technician is responsible for receiving and filling prescription requests for patients and completing other tasks as assigned by the supervisor. This is a full-time, on-site position with evening shift hours of 2pm - 11pm. Shifts will either be Tuesday - Saturday, or Sunday - Thursday.

Requirements

  • Must hold and maintain a current, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician certification issued by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy with a minimum of 1-year experience.
  • Must complete sufficient hours of CEU to maintain technician license and technician certification.
  • Demonstrate professionalism by using objectivity, maintaining self-control when under pressure, separating professional from personal issues, displaying emotional maturity, maintaining a high degree of integrity, and promoting a positive work environment by setting an example.
  • Notify critical information to the next level of management that may have a negative impact on client and/or vendor relations or patient care.

Nice To Haves

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) technician certification is encouraged but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving and filling prescriptions for corrections patients, employees, and public health client patients.
  • Using knowledge and expertise to ensure that pharmaceutical processes and systems are followed appropriately according to policies and procedures, company performance, and accreditation standards.
  • Communicating effectively with clients, peers, and employees at all levels within the organization.
  • Maintaining clear lines of communication throughout issue-resolution processes.
  • Demonstrating personal performance based on professional practice standards, relevant statutes, rules and regulations and organizational criteria.
  • Maintaining proper storage and security conditions for all medications.
  • Filling prescribed medications and affixing labels as necessary.
  • Cleaning and maintaining all equipment and work areas, including sterilization as required.
  • Ordering, labeling, and counting stock medications, chemicals, and supplies, and entering inventory data.
  • Receiving and storing incoming supplies, verifying quantities against invoices, and reporting stock needs and/or shortages.
  • Completing departmental duties in other areas as needed.
  • Completing special projects as needed from management.
  • Working assigned schedule and mandatory overtime in peak times.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Passing the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
