Requirements

  • Previous experience performing mechanical service and repairs to Caterpillar and related competitive equipment
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • High school diploma or GED, required
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent driving record and the ability to obtain a CDL
  • Ability to become DOT certified with DOT Medical Card
  • Strong communicator with excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Willingness to work any shift and overtime as needed to meet business and customer demands
  • Self-directed and well organized with the ability to prioritize workload while providing excellent customer service
  • Proficiency with use of technical software, databases, and manuals

Responsibilities

  • Perform all level of maintenance on both Caterpillar and allied rental equipment
  • Service, diagnose, and perform repairs, including changing oil, replacing fuel filters, replacing bulbs, and changing wheel assemblies
  • Apply advanced level troubleshooting techniques to determine proper repair procedures on all assigned work orders
  • Provide recommendation to swap out of machines requiring intermediate level, or higher, repairs
  • Disassemble machine as needed to perform service work. Reassemble to factory specifications
  • Interact with customers and answer repair-related questions, as required
  • Use CAT ET, as needed
  • Refer non-repair questions to supervisor
  • Instruct customers on operation of equipment, as needed
  • Interpret and utilize information from operating, maintenance and service manuals/bulletins
  • Prepare parts requisitions, parts returns, accurate and complete service reports, and other necessary reports and forms
  • Inspect components removed from machines to determine their reusability
  • Maintain work area, tools and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment
  • Travel to all company locations and job sites as required
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn and apply new knowledge
  • Proficient use of technical software, databases and manuals
  • Perform various other duties as assigned
