About The Position

The primary function of this position is to perform USED inspections, annual inspections, undercairriage inspections, small field service repairs, preventative maintenance, and assist other field technicians. This role involves checking equipment and supplies, complying with PPE requirements, and preparing for duties. The technician will complete certified CAT Used inspections on the CAT rental fleet marked for sale, periodic undercarriage inspections on CCRS and CHVY steel track rental units, and accurate annual inspections on MEWP rental units in the field. They will also perform small field service repairs based on current abilities and availability, and assist other rental field service technicians with difficult repairs or for on-the-job training. Continued on-the-job and TGC training is expected with the goal of moving into a full rental field service technician role.

Requirements

• High school education or GED.
• Four years of work experience.
• At least two years' experience with CAT equipment.
• Proficiency in at least two mechanical systems (e.g., transmissions, engines, hydraulics).
• Ability to daily and repeatedly stoop, kneel, bend, and climb onto and underneath various equipment.
• Ability to effectively see to perform repairs, research technical manuals, and develop written repair work order reports.
• Ability to routinely and physically lift or position various parts to perform repairs/service and manually handle parts up to 112 pounds, as well as use mechanical hoist for heavier parts.
• Ability to effectively write repair activities on customer work orders.
• Cognitive reasoning and problem-solving skills to apply knowledge, written information, and verbal instructions in repairing/servicing unusual or unknown technical equipment operational problems.
• Exposure to P.C. base equipment and parts information.

Responsibilities

• Complete accurate and detailed annual inspections on MEWP rental units in the field.
• Perform small field service repairs based on current abilities and availability.
• Assist other rental field service technicians with difficult repairs and/or for OJT training.
• Engage in continued OTJ and TGC training with the goal of moving into a full rental field service technician role.
