About The Position

Wagner Equipment Co. is seeking a motivated and ambitious Rental Diesel Technician to join their focused and dedicated team. This role offers challenging career opportunities, extensive training, and employee development. The technician will be responsible for performing incidental repairs, removing and replacing sub-assemblies, evaluating damage for rebuilds, troubleshooting equipment, and performing high-level diagnostic assessments. The position emphasizes working as "One Professional Team" and may involve performing essential functions with or without direct supervision, depending on education and experience.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduation from a technical school with emphasis on diesel engine preferred
  • Heavy equipment, engine, or mechanic repair experience
  • 1+ years administrative/clerical experience
  • 1+ years customer service experience
  • Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearing
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, etc.
  • Heavy work that includes lifting and/or moving objects up to 100 pounds or more
  • Data Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills
  • Safety & Product Knowledge
  • Understanding of diagrams and schematics
  • Intermediate diagnostic aptitude
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Wynne, and ET/SIS/SIS Web/STW
  • Basic knowledge of Windows/Internet

  • Graduation from a technical school with emphasis on diesel engine

Responsibilities

  • Learns and understands how to use the work order system, completing all documents and parts orders accurately and timely.
  • Identifies parts for return in a timely manner.
  • Works effectively with others in the shop and accepts technical advice.
  • Communicates effectively with Shop Leads, Shop Coordinators, and Managers regarding problems, repair nature, and status.
  • Engages in required safety practices and maintains quality housekeeping in the work area.
  • Accomplishes work to Service Department quality standards within allowed time.
  • Reads and understands manufacturers’ Operation and Maintenance Manuals and complies with their contents.
  • Inspects and maintains equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Understands the operation, function, specifications, capabilities, and controls of rental equipment.
  • Inspects machines returned from rental for customer damage and notifies supervisors.
  • Adheres to manager’s and lead mechanic’s directions regarding repairs and service calls.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting and diagnosing of equipment malfunctions and failures with appropriate supervision.
  • Assists in rebuilding, repairing, and maintaining equipment and components.
  • Attends training as requested.
  • Assumes yard duties as needed, including loading/unloading equipment and cleaning returned rental equipment with a pressure washer.
  • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager.
