About The Position

The Rental Diesel Technician may be responsible for performing incidental repairs, removing and replacing repairable sub-assemblies, evaluating damage to determine reusability in rebuild, troubleshooting equipment, and/or performing high level diagnostic assessments in a manner that reflects the company’s vision of working as “One Professional Team.” Depending upon education and experience, the Shop Mechanic may perform all or some of the Essential Functions listed below with or without direct supervision.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduation from a technical school with emphasis on diesel engine preferred
  • Heavy equipment, engine, or mechanic repair experience
  • 1+ years administrative/clerical experience
  • 1+ years customer service experience
  • Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearing
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, etc.
  • Heavy work that includes lifting and/or moving objects up to 100 pounds or more
  • Data Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills
  • Safety & Product Knowledge
  • Understanding of diagrams and schematics
  • Intermediate diagnostic aptitude
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Wynne, and ET/SIS/SIS Web/STW
  • Basic knowledge of Windows/Internet

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on power generation equipment, including generators, compressors, and related systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and operational failures using appropriate tools, diagnostic equipment, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Read, interpret, and follow manufacturer operation, maintenance, and service manuals to ensure proper equipment performance and compliance.
  • Complete work orders, repair documentation, parts requests, and return processes accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Inspect equipment before and after service to verify safe operation, quality workmanship, and compliance with company standards.
  • Communicate repair findings, equipment status, and service requirements effectively with supervisors, leads, and service personnel.
  • Assist with component overhauls, rebuilds, and major repairs on engines, generators, and supporting power generation systems.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following all company safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
  • Participate in technical training and continuously develop knowledge of power generation & compressor equipment, controls, and systems.
  • Support shop and field operations as needed, including equipment movement, loading/unloading, emergency service calls, overtime, and other assigned duties.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
