About The Position

EDF Renewables North America is seeking dedicated and talented individuals for roles ranging from entry-level Technician 1 to expert Technician 5 to perform maintenance, repair, and operational activities on utility-scale renewable energy assets, including wind turbines, Photovoltaic (PV) power systems, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Candidates will be placed at the level commensurate with their experience, qualifications, and successful completion of internal competency standards. Each Renewable Energy Technician will attend a mandatory 3-4 week training and certification course at the start of their employment. The exact duration will be determined based on experience and qualifications. The training is in Albert Lea, MN, and travel, accommodation, and expenses will be provided. This position is onsite in Western, Nebraska. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills; ability to follow instructions.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to complete all required training upon hire.
  • Work is primarily conducted 100% in the renewable asset field for Techs 1-3.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and structures to heights of over 300 feet (91 meters) and work at those heights and in confined spaces.
  • Comfortable working in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain) and in an electrical-mechanical environment with high voltage/stored energy.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 35 pounds and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Due to weight restrictions for fall-arrest equipment, the maximum employee weight must not exceed 285 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 to 2 years in renewable energy or similar (for Tech 2).
  • 2+ years of renewable energy experience (for Tech 3).
  • Knowledge of schematics, multi-meters, and electrical/mechanical components (for Tech 2).
  • Deep competency in generation theory, arc flash standards, NEC, and diagnostics (for Tech 3).
  • Must meet Qualified Electrical Worker standards (for Tech 2).
  • Qualified Electrical Worker standards + system software & industry competency (for Tech 3).
  • Tech 4 may spend approximately 20% of time in the office environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting experienced techs with maintenance and repairs; learning safety protocols.
  • Independent preventative maintenance; routine troubleshooting and minor upgrades.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and unsupervised corrective maintenance.
  • Unsupervised execution of all corrective/preventative maintenance; trains and oversees Tech 1 & 2.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures, and lead site safety assessments.
  • Maintain company property and equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Accurately complete all administrative work, including daily maintenance logs, work orders, time tracking, and warranty/inventory documentation.
  • Attend all required safety and technical training.
  • Maintain the highest level of system integrity and support site budget control by seeking efficiencies.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for system monitoring and fault identification (Technician levels 2-5).
  • Be fiscally responsible on the company's behalf.
