About The Position

Manage the Landfill Gas to Electric Power Plant takes on existing plant manager roles including maximizing production, recognizing unsafe work practices, environmental compliance risk avoidance, advanced maintenance and troubleshooting, compliance with contracts, developing new work processes or tooling, and coordination with the landfill management and operations. This role acts as an advanced single source "go to" plant owner and is available whenever necessary to meet the objectives of the role and the needs of the facility. An Electric Facility takes landfill gas and converts it to a electricity that is distributed into the local electric grid for household and commercial use. The Electric Plant Manager will be required to operate and maintain equipment such as, specialty gas processing equipment, gas compressors, engine or turbine equipment, gas monitoring equipment, job specific specialty equipment and have an advanced/confident understanding of the overall system (gas inlet to electric export). This position is limited and employees should only be considered with the highest repetitive annual performance reviews and recommended by Supervisors.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED (accredited)
5 years of relevant work experience in a automotive/heavy equipment technician, plant operations or plant maintenance environment
Driver's License Valid and in State

Engine or Turbine experience with strong fundamental understanding
Advanced troubleshooting/repair experience without the regular need of guidance
Knowledge of controls and programming and/or landfill gas collections
Skilled in P&ID or electrical drawing interpretation

Automotive or Heavy Equipment technician and/or Caterpillar Electronic Technician and systems
Supervisor and/or leadership skills

Responsibilities

Perform intermediate to advanced level Instrument and Control repair, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
Capture data and evaluate course of action for optimized plant performance, while operating within identified budgets.
Operate advanced instrumentation and process control systems.
Lead, manage, and coordinate all 3rd party vendors or customers for scheduled plant maintenance, unscheduled down time, compliance, and well-field issues.
Regularly communicate with the Market Area Gas Operations Manager (MAGOM) and/or WMRE Operations Manager.
Inspect plant machinery and equipment. Repair, maintain, and service all equipment in accordance with the facility Standard Operating Procedures, equipment maintenance manuals, and WMRE policies and training.
Implement WM and WMRE safety policies and practices for all work activities, and ensure these practices are followed by other WM staff, vendors, contractors, and visitors entering the facility.
Complete all mandatory training activities for both safety and operational training as assigned by supervisor.
Procure plant supplies and replacement equipment in an efficient manner by identifying needs in advance, managing vendors, and working within WMRE guidelines as well as being responsible for the annual budget.
Promptly respond to call-outs of plant shutdowns during non-business hours to identify the cause of the shutdown and rectify/diagnose through appropriate repairs or adjustments to return the plant to operation while consulting with WMRE operations managers (as needed).
Maintain the facility spare inventory and provide a written inventory count twice annually.
Complete special assignments/tasks as required by WMRE Operations Manager without regular guidance and can be considered “right hand person” to the Ops Manager.
Able to work as a team and communicate clearly and professionally across different business units.
Wear/operate assigned PPE and follow WM and WM Renewable Energy safety protocols and procedures.
Work on electrical systems, DC and AC low voltage, to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs.
Must be strong with basic computer skills used to communicate, document, and change operations settings for plant performance optimization.
