About The Position

SAIC is seeking Full-time Remote Pilot Operators (RPO) to join the Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the Dallas/Fort Worth Intl ATCT (DFW). This role supports air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The RPO simulates the actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities within an air traffic control simulator. This involves operating a simulated radar display and voice communication system, responding to student commands, inputting simulated pilot actions, and communicating using proper ATC phraseology. The position requires the candidate to obtain certifications including a classroom test on airspace and procedures, and a lab performance test as a Remote Pilot Operator. The FAA is responsible for air traffic safety and professionalism, relying on a well-trained workforce of over 14,000 air traffic controllers who manage aircraft separation in the National Airspace System. SAIC provides essential training and support services to meet the FAA's training needs for new and current air traffic control specialists across various facility types.

Requirements

  • Must be able to complete required certifications: Classroom (pass test on airspace and procedures) and Lab (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).

Responsibilities

  • Operate a simulated radar display and voice communication system to simulate pilot actions and communication.
  • Receive voice commands from students.
  • Input proper entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions.
  • Translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology.
  • Respond to students via the VCS utilizing proper phraseology.
  • Complete required certifications: Classroom (pass test on airspace and procedures) and Lab (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).
