About The Position

The Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) will join the Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team, partnering with SAIC at the Jacksonville ARTCC. This role supports air traffic controller training for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The RPO simulates the role of pilots and other controllers within an Air Traffic Controller training simulator. Utilizing a simulated radar display and voice communication system, the RPO will mimic the actions and communications of pilots and remote ATC facilities during medium and high-fidelity training exercises. Responsibilities include receiving voice commands from students, inputting data into the automated system to simulate pilot actions, translating displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology, and responding to students via the VCS using proper phraseology. Candidates must complete classroom (passing tests on airspace and procedures) and lab certifications (performing as an RPO on all positions).

Ability to complete classroom certification (pass test on airspace and procedures).
Ability to complete lab certification (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).

Responsibilities

Operate a simulated radar display and voice communication system to simulate the actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities during training exercises.
Receive voice commands from students.
Input proper entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions.
Translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology.
Respond to the student via the VCS utilizing proper phraseology.
Complete classroom certification (pass test on airspace and procedures).
Complete lab certification (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).
