About The Position

Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in Corpus Christ, Texas, is seeking an exceptional individual for the position of Religious Education Assistant. This position is part-time and reports to the Director of Parish Faith Formation & Discipleship. The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church. When this is a full-time position, the employee is eligible for medical insurance and other benefits offered by the Diocese of Corpus Christi.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Know the basic teachings of the Catholic Church and live by them with an openness to learn more about the Faith
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment screening including criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review (MVR), and drug screening
  • Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources is required
  • Must adhere to all Diocesan policies and procedures throughout the entire employment period

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of ministry experience preferred
  • Food handler's license preferred
  • Valid Texas driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
  • Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Continuously grow in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
  • Provide office coverage, hospitality, and office support
  • Answer phones, emails, and assist walk-in families
  • Assist with parent communication and attendance follow-up
  • Process sacramental paperwork, certificates, and baptismal records
  • Maintain records, data entry, and ministry files
  • Support department communication and organizational needs
  • Assist with OCIC, Parent Formation, and catechetical programming support
  • Provide department support including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Work as a team with the entire parish staff in order to advance the goals of the Office of Faith Formation and Discipleship while respecting and supporting the needs of the parish as a whole
  • Communicate, market, and advertise on behalf of the Office of Faith Formation and Discipleship and the parish
  • Serve as a liaison between the parish and diocesan offices
  • Foster and encourage a relationship with our Triune God, our Blessed Mother Mary, and all the holy men and women of the Church
  • Encourage individuals and families to discern God's will in their lives
  • Assist and collaborate with the Director of Parish Faith Formation and Discipleship in all events sponsored by that office
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Pastor and/or Parochial Vicar
