Rooted in the Catholic tradition and committed to excellence in mind, body, and spirit, SJCS seeks a mission-driven educator and faith leader to serve as a High School Theology Teacher & Campus Minister. This position is more than classroom instruction. It is a ministry of accompaniment, discipleship, and leadership within the life of the school. The ideal candidate is a joyful and practicing Catholic who possesses a deep love for Christ, strong instructional practice, authentic relational leadership, and a desire to help young people encounter truth, beauty, goodness, and the living presence of God. The selected candidate will help foster a vibrant Catholic culture through theology instruction, retreat leadership, liturgical life, student formation, and spiritual engagement across campus. The High School Theology Teacher & Campus Minister serves as a spiritual and instructional leader within the Upper School community. This individual teaches Theology courses while helping animate the Catholic identity and spiritual life of the school through retreats, prayer experiences, liturgies, discipleship opportunities, service formation, and student leadership development. The position works collaboratively with administration, faculty, parish leadership, and student leaders to ensure that faith is not simply taught, but lived throughout the school community. Catholic schools in the Diocese of Austin are canonically obedient to the Bishop and assist him in fulfilling his ministry and canonical obligations. Pastors, presidents, and principals serve as leaders of the schools to make Christ's mission present and enduring in the schools. In order to fulfill Christ's mission, the school leaders employ suitable, chosen collaborators, sharing with them Christ's mission and entrusting to them various responsibilities. Positions employed in this School help extend the ministry of the School leaders in particular ways as outlined in the job description. The employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the School leaders in the performance of their ministry and, therefore, engages in ministry for the Church.
