About The Position

YESS is a not-for-profit agency working with youth facing difficult realities. Based in Edmonton, our Youth Support Centre provides immediate and low-barrier 24/7 sleep support and individualized wrap-around supports for young people aged 15 -24. We work collaboratively within a network of care, focused on the prevention of youth homelessness by providing youth with the necessary supports to stabilize their housing, improve their wellbeing, build life skills, connect with community, and avoid re-entry into homelessness. Requirements

  • Valid First Aid certification.
  • A clear Police Information Check (PIC) and Child Intervention Record Check (CIRC) completed within the last six months.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays on an as-needed basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma or certificate in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or a related field is an asset.
  • Experience working with youth experiencing homelessness, trauma, mental health, or addictions is preferred.
  • Experience in crisis intervention, de-escalation, or shelter/residential settings is an asset.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice is an asset.
  • Suicide intervention, harm reduction, or crisis intervention training is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Build respectful, professional relationships with youth using a trauma-informed approach.
  • Support youth by providing supervision, encouragement, and responding to immediate needs.
  • Complete youth intakes and maintain accurate documentation, including case notes, shift logs, and incident reports.
  • Monitor the safety of the shelter and respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents, and crises.
  • Conduct safety rounds and report hazards or concerns.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
  • Assist with providing basic needs such as meals, clothing, and hygiene supplies.
  • Communicate effectively with Team Leads and other staff to support continuity of care.
  • Follow YESS policies, procedures, and program expectations.
