About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking Relief Veterinary Technicians to join our team here in Augusta, GA! This role involves providing critical care to emergency cases, including anesthesia monitoring, triage, radiography, and administering medications. The position also requires strong calculation skills, proficiency in phlebotomy and catheter placement, and a passion for mentoring and client communication.

Requirements

  • Experience with anesthesia monitoring and equipment.
  • Ability to triage emergency cases and obtain vital signs.
  • Proficiency in digital radiography and patient positioning.
  • Understanding of normal patient vital sign ranges.
  • Skill in interpreting vital signs and alerting veterinarians to changes.
  • Ability to initiate CPR.
  • Proficiency in medical math calculations, including CRIs.
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy and placing IV catheters.
  • Experience placing and maintaining feeding tubes and central line catheters.
  • Mentoring and training skills.
  • Client communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
  • Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
  • Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
  • Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
  • Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
  • Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
  • Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
  • Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
  • Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
  • Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
  • Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
