Petco Veterinary Services offers relief veterinarians the opportunity to work in Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. Veterinarians can use flexible online scheduling to select shifts that fit their lifestyle, with no minimum or maximum number of required shifts and weekday and weekend options. They can set their own rate for each shift, continue practice activities outside Petco shifts, and work without agency fees. The appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and supports on-time departures, while trained staff handle clinic operations so veterinarians can focus on patient care. Vetco Vaccination Clinics provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement. They do not provide surgery, emergency care, or illness care. These clinics are primarily located in Petco stores, with some operating in mobile van units. Vetco Total Care hospitals provide preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Hospital equipment includes digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and fully equipped surgery suites with heated hydraulic surgery tables and full anesthesia monitoring. Licensed and trained hospital staff support care delivery, and there are no overnight or emergency on-call shifts. Relief veterinarians receive a monthly newsletter with clinic news, policy updates, and product announcements, along with a 15% discount on Petco products and services. Minnesota state bid rates average $134.00–$167.00 per hour; shift rates may vary by clinic location and shift duration.
