About The Position

Petco Veterinary Services offers relief veterinarians the opportunity to work in two distinct settings: Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. In both environments, veterinarians can make a difference in the lives of pets. The role provides flexible online scheduling, allowing veterinarians to choose shifts that suit their lifestyle, with no minimum or maximum shift requirements and a variety of weekday and weekend hours. Veterinarians have the freedom to set their own rates for each shift and can continue practice activities outside of Petco shifts without incurring agency fees. An appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and ensures timely departures, while trained and experienced staff handle operations, allowing veterinarians to focus on providing optimal care. Monthly newsletters keep veterinarians updated on clinic news, policy updates, and product announcements. Additionally, a 15% discount on all Petco products and services is offered. Vetco Vaccination Clinics specialize in basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement, operating primarily within Petco stores or advanced mobile van units, and do not offer surgeries, emergency, or illness care. Vetco Total Care hospitals are full-service facilities providing a comprehensive range of services, including preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. These hospitals are equipped with digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and fully equipped surgery suites, featuring heated hydraulic surgery tables and full anesthesia monitoring. Licensed and trained hospital staff ensure high standards of care, with no overnight or emergency on-call shifts required. Petco Veterinary Services aims to provide high-quality veterinary care across 48 states.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing
Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions including the ability to perform blood draws & administer vaccines
DEA in good standing required for full-service Vetco Total Care hospital relief shifts
Ability to provide Professional Liability Insurance + license defense policy
Compliance with all local state and federal mandates
