About The Position

Vetco, a division of Petco, The Health + Wellness Company, is seeking independent veterinary contractors to provide relief services. The mission is to improve the lives of pets and pet parents by making high-quality veterinary care more accessible. This role offers significant career flexibility with a focus on work-life balance. Vetco provides flexible online booking, allowing veterinarians to select their own shifts with no minimum or maximum requirements. Both weekend and weekday hours are available, and veterinarians determine their own rates for each shift. The company emphasizes that practitioners can continue their practice activities outside of Vetco shifts with no agency fees. An appointment-based model is used to manage traffic and ensure timely departures. Trained and experienced staff handle operations, allowing veterinarians to focus on patient care and experience. A monthly newsletter provides updates on policies, products, and clinic news. Additionally, employees receive a 15% Petco discount on all products and services. Vetco offers two types of relief shifts: Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care Hospitals. Vetco Vaccination Clinics focus on wellness examinations, preventive vaccinations and medications, heartworm testing, and microchip insertion. Surgeries, emergencies, and sick visits are not handled at these clinics. Operations, transactions, and pet restraint are managed by trained staff. These clinics are located inside Petco retail locations, and the appointment-based model helps manage traffic. Vetco Total Care Hospital relief shifts encompass preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Relief veterinarians will collaborate with the area medical director to assess case comfort levels. Hospitals are equipped with advanced technology, including digital patient records, a surgical suite, Butterfly IQ+ handheld ultrasound imaging, digital and dental X-ray, Vetology Radiograph Interpretation AI, and on-site labs. Licensed and trained hospital staff are present, and there are no overnights or emergency on-call duties. The appointment-based model also applies here to manage traffic.
