About The Position
Vetco Total Care Hospitals, a division of Petco, is seeking independent veterinary contractors to provide relief veterinarian services. The mission is to improve the lives of pets and pet parents by making high-quality veterinary care more accessible. This role offers significant career flexibility and work-life balance through a flexible online booking system where veterinarians can select their shifts with no minimum or maximum requirements. A variety of weekend and weekday hours are available, and veterinarians determine their own rates. Practice activities outside of Vetco Total Care Hospital shifts are possible, with no agency fees. The appointment-based model manages patient traffic, ensuring timely departures. Trained and experienced staff handle operations, allowing veterinarians to focus on patient care. A monthly newsletter provides updates on policies, products, and clinic news. A 15% Petco discount is offered for products and services. Relief shifts include preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Veterinarians will collaborate with the area medical director to review case comfort levels before shifts. Hospitals are equipped with digital patient records, a surgical suite, Butterfly IQ+ handheld ultrasound imaging, digital and dental X-ray, Vetology Radiograph Interpretation AI, and on-site labs. Licensed and trained hospital staff are available. There are no overnights or emergency on-call duties. The appointment-based model helps manage traffic and ensures timely departures.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing.
- Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions.
- DEA in good standing.
- Ability to provide professional liability insurance + license defense policy.
- Compliance with all local state and federal mandates.
Responsibilities
