About The Position

Petco Veterinary Services is hiring relief veterinarians to work in Vetco Vaccination Clinics and/or Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. Relief veterinarians can choose shifts through flexible online scheduling, with no minimum or maximum shift requirement. Weekday and weekend hours are available, and veterinarians set their own rate for each shift. They may continue practice activities outside Petco shifts, with no agency fees. The appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and supports veterinarians leaving on time. Trained staff handle clinic operations so veterinarians can focus on patient care. Vetco Vaccination Clinics provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement; they do not provide surgery, emergency, or illness care. Vetco Total Care hospitals provide preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Hospital relief shifts do not include overnight or emergency on-call work. Petco offers a 15% discount on its products and services.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing.
Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including the ability to perform blood draws and administer vaccines.
DEA registration in good standing for full-service Vetco Total Care hospital relief shifts.
Professional Liability Insurance and a license defense policy.
Compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates.

Responsibilities

Provide veterinary care during assigned relief shifts at Vetco Vaccination Clinics and/or Vetco Total Care hospitals.
Perform shift functions in accordance with applicable state-specific licensing, including blood draws and vaccine administration.
For full-service Vetco Total Care hospital shifts, provide services for which DEA registration is required.
