About The Position

Petco Veterinary Services offers relief veterinarians the opportunity to work in Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. Flexible online scheduling lets veterinarians choose shifts that fit their lifestyle, with no minimum or maximum shift requirement and weekday and weekend hours available. Veterinarians set their own rate for each shift and may continue practice activities outside Petco shifts, with no agency fees. The appointment-based model helps manage patient flow, and trained staff handle clinic operations so veterinarians can focus on care. Relief veterinarians receive monthly updates about clinic news, policies, and products, as well as a 15% discount on Petco products and services. Vetco Vaccination Clinics provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement. They do not provide surgery, emergency care, or illness care. Locations are primarily inside Petco stores, with some in mobile van units. Vetco Total Care hospitals provide preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Facilities include digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and equipped surgery suites. Hospital staff are licensed and trained, and there are no overnight or emergency on-call shifts.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
State veterinary license in good standing.
Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including blood draws and vaccine administration.
DEA registration in good standing for relief shifts at full-service Vetco Total Care hospitals.
Ability to provide professional liability insurance and a license defense policy.
Compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal mandates.
