About The Position

Vetco Total Care Hospital is seeking independent veterinary contractors to provide relief veterinarian services. As a division of Petco, The Health + Wellness Company, Vetco Total Care is dedicated to improving the lives of pets and pet parents by making high-quality veterinary care more accessible. This role offers significant career flexibility, allowing veterinarians to set their own rates and choose their shifts with no minimum or maximum requirements. The appointment-based model and trained staff ensure efficient operations, allowing veterinarians to focus on patient care. Relief shifts encompass preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Hospitals are equipped with modern technology including digital patient records, surgical suites, handheld ultrasound, digital and dental X-ray, AI-powered radiograph interpretation, and on-site labs. There are no overnights or emergency on-call duties.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing.
Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions.
DEA in good standing.
Ability to provide Professional Liability Insurance + license defense policy.
Compliance with all local state and federal mandates.

Responsibilities

Provide relief veterinarian services including preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures.
Partner with the area medical director to review the comfort level of cases before shifts.
Deliver high-quality veterinary care and patient experience.
Utilize digital patient records and other hospital equipment.
