About The Position

The Relief Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical services, including processing prescriptions, in compliance with applicable State Board of Pharmacy regulations. Work is performed under close supervision, and pharmacy functions are limited to those permitted by the Board of Pharmacy; products are checked before release. This is an entry-level position, with the employer describing the initial work period as a minimum of six months to about one year, regardless of experience gained elsewhere. The role includes maintaining medication inventory and preparing, compounding, packaging, and labeling patient-specific sterile and non-sterile drug products, including intravenous admixtures, cancer chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition doses. Sterile preparations require strict aseptic technique and appropriate final pharmacist checks. The position is with Stanford Health Care and is identified as relief/per-diem, with rotating eight-hour shifts. Employees are expected to follow Stanford Health Care's C-I-CARE standards and help provide an exceptional patient and family experience through anticipating needs, guiding patients and families, and coordinating care. The stated base pay scale generally starts at $37.10–$41.49 per hour; the finalist's salary will depend on factors such as internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
