This position establishes skilled Occupational Therapy (OT) treatment plans for residents and conducts skilled OT services. This includes, but is not limited to, physical agent modalities, therapeutic exercise, therapeutic activities, ADL training, positioning, and the use of orthopedic and adaptive equipment. The therapist will pass residents on to therapy assistants for treatment and will supervise and collaborate with assistants on an ongoing basis throughout the treatment duration. The role also involves completing all required documentation in accordance with departmental, agency, and state policies, including documentation related to Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement. Assessments must be completed within established timeframes, and cost information must be forwarded to the appropriate sources in a timely manner. Additionally, the position provides training for OT-related services implemented by non-OT staff and in-service training to departmental staff on topics relevant to departmental goals. The therapist will review medical records, gather assessment information through interviews, and complete initial evaluations and subsequent re-certifications as needed. The role requires attending department and other meetings, potentially conducting department meetings, and completing ancillary documentation and communication. Safety rules and regulations must be followed, and appropriate corrective action recommended when violations are observed. The therapist will maintain clean and safe environments, ensure fall prevention devices/care plans are followed, and recommend the purchase of new equipment. The OT, personal office space, and equipment must be maintained in a safe and clean manner. The therapist may serve on committees as designated by the supervisor, complete special projects, and perform other duties assigned by the Director of Rehabilitation.
