About The Position

Relief Counselors are Casual Agreement Employees who work as needed in BAMSI’s residential and day services. Hours and locations may vary week to week depending on business needs. They provide rehabilitative support to adults in Group Living Environments (GLE), fostering skills for daily living and community integration.

Requirements

High school diploma/GED
Valid driver’s license
Ability to assist with mobility (bending, standing, etc.)
Strong communication skills (English)
Basic computer proficiency
Compassion, patience, and a commitment to trauma-informed care.
Must work a minimum of one major holiday between July 1 and June 30th each year.
Employees are responsible for scheduling, working, and documenting hours worked.
Employees who fail to work the minimum hours per month will receive a warning on their first offense. Employees may be subject to termination on their second offense.
Employees who fail to work one holiday within the year may be subject to termination.
Obligated to work all shifts for which they are scheduled unless it is impossible to do so because of illness or other emergency.
If unable to work a scheduled shift, must speak directly to the program supervisor or on-call manager by phone and give as much notice as possible, but a minimum of three hours.
Required to complete mandatory trainings within their first 60 days of employment.
Must keep all required trainings current.

Nice To Haves

Mental health experience preferred.
Lived experience or multilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese).

Responsibilities

Teach ADLs (cooking, budgeting, medication management) and socialization skills.
Implement Treatment Plans and behavioral interventions under clinician guidance.
Transport residents to appointments and community activities.
Advocate for residents’ needs and model healthy coping strategies.
Maintain a safe, clean home environment and complete timely documentation.
