About The Position

A Relief Ball Mill Operator is responsible for ensuring a mill is producing a quality product as specified in the “Production Sampling and Testing Guidelines”. The operator reports to the Production Supervisor. This is a night shift position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Willing and able to work and act safely (laboratory and plant practices).
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations that include the following: multiplication, addition, and percentages – all of which can be accomplished with the use of a calculator if needed.
  • Must have good overall communication skills with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow safety policy manuals, MSHA regulations, SOP’s, SDS, and various production schedules/reports.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years Operator experience preferred.
  • CDL license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with the Huber Sustainability Management Standard requirements, within their sphere of influence. This may or may not include compliance with any air permits, waste water permits, storm water permits, or other rules as presented to the employee as requirements.
  • In charge of monitoring their equipment for visible emissions, shutting down equipment with visible emissions and reporting emissions to their area coordinator. Report, document and manage spills properly.
  • Operates all mills assigned to the Ball Mill Complex (4 Ball Mills, 3 Treatment systems, Raymond’s Fines Mill, Screen Deck, and Cart Packaging System)
  • Inspects mill unit area for unsafe conditions daily.
  • Operates mills in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Performs preventative maintenance servicing of equipment as scheduled. Ensures electrical equipment is locked out before repair work begins.
  • Produces and loads materials as established by the Area Coordinator.
  • Obtains in-process, final product, or load out samples on pre-determined intervals Production Sampling and Testing Guidelines” or as specified on the “Plant Order Instructions”.
  • Inspects trucks and rail cars before loading.
  • Prepares required daily operation reports.
  • May direct one or more personnel in the packaging process. The operator may be required to perform packaging duties based upon location or under direction of the Area Coordinator.
  • Communicates with oncoming shift on matters related to operational problems or conditions.
  • As a Relief Operator, the employee will work various shifts based on coverage needs, which includes: nights, weekends and off shift coverage.
  • Employees must learn and observe all applicable company policies and safe practices and perform all duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Knowledgeable of the ISO quality system as required to assure compliance to the ISO 9001 quality standard.
