About The Position

Every person in our community has the right to safe, affordable, quality housing and to live with dignity and as much independence and choice as possible. Our Supportive Housing programs offer a spectrum of support options to assist clients in their recovery journeys from intensive, residential treatment programs to independent housing. As a Relief Addiction and Mental Health Worker, Supportive Housing you will support clients as they build skills and independence in a safe, supportive living environment. Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 2 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC. Requirements

  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements
  • Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months.
  • University degree/College diploma in social science field, or a related field (primary proof of credentials will be required during the hiring process i.e. original degree/diploma or official transcript)
  • Current, satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
  • Ability to attend work regularly

Responsibilities

  • Work with clients and help motivate/support them to work towards achievement of their goals
  • Champion each client’s capacity for independent community living
  • Assist clients to maintain suitable housing
  • Facilitate and implement resident meetings
  • Provide health teaching about mental illness and symptom management
  • Crisis intervention and prevention
  • Assist and coach clients in the learning and management/achievement of activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, daily chores, budgeting, socialization etc.
  • Assist and teach meal planning, preparation and other food related activities (see additional information for the Eating Disorders Residence below)
  • Advocate for and support clients in accessing community resource
  • Documentation related to clients
  • Medication monitoring and education; supporting clients with medication routines; and completion of Medication Reconciliation procedure, in applicable programs
  • Ensure effective communication with Director, Managers, staff team, and external treatment teams concerning each client’s progress
  • Identify, promote resolution, and management of all emergency situations concerning clients, staff, and property
  • Make decisions both independently and collaboratively

Benefits

  • Starting rate for this role is $27.14 per hour (Level 1 – Direct Service), with a wage differential, based on regulation ($30.01 per hour for Level 1 – Direct Service, Regulated)
  • Successful candidates who are registered with one of the designated professional colleges (e.g. OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO) will receive the wage differential for regulation
  • Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8 ($34.41 per hour for non-regulated, and $37.26 per hour for regulated)
  • For internal applicants, grid level placement will occur as per the Collective Agreement
  • Premiums of $2.00 per hour will be applied for eligible Evening/Night and Weekend Shifts
  • Casual shifts as required; days, afternoons, evenings, overnights & weekends
  • Eligible for optional enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
