About The Position

The Reliability Vibration Technician serves as a technical expert in condition monitoring and reliability engineering, with a focus on vibration analysis, diagnostics, and condition monitoring. The role diagnoses complex equipment issues and advances asset reliability through proactive maintenance strategies, working closely with Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations to improve uptime, reduce lifecycle costs, and enhance system performance. It also contributes to long-term reliability strategy and continuous improvement. The position offers substantial ownership in building a relatively new predictive maintenance program, establishing processes and best practices at a large pharmaceutical campus with more than 65 buildings. The team works collaboratively and has autonomy to prioritize work and manage daily schedules. Local candidates are preferred; candidates willing to relocate at their own expense will also be considered. The posting additionally describes broad account leadership responsibilities: serving as the second-in-command and backing up the General Manager, supervising other managers, and taking responsibility for the account when the Director of Facilities Operations is absent. Depending on the account structure, the role may oversee facilities functions such as custodial services, maintenance, grounds, and facilities management, or coordinate multiple maintenance managers and other specialized managers. Other described duties include staffing, training and employee development, client interface, payroll and some budget oversight, project coordination, work orders and CMMS, mechanical systems such as HVAC, and quality assurance and safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent practical experience; the posting also lists a minimum education requirement of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5–10+ years of experience in reliability engineering, condition monitoring, or rotating equipment analysis.
  • 10+ years of predictive maintenance experience, preferably supporting programs across multiple facilities or sites.
  • Strong expertise in vibration analysis techniques, including FFT, waveform, phase, and resonance, and in failure diagnostics.
  • Strong hands-on machine vibration analysis skills, including interpreting vibration data, diagnosing root causes, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Experience with predictive maintenance tools, vibration software, and CMMS systems.
  • Ability to work in regulated environments such as pharmaceutical or life sciences settings, with strong documentation practices.
  • At least 5 years of management experience.
  • At least 3 years of functional experience in facilities maintenance, plant operations, or engineering services.
  • Leadership experience leading or mentoring technicians, including the ability to lead a predictive maintenance department and develop the team’s vibration-analysis capabilities.
  • Experience leading or owning predictive maintenance programs, organizing work, establishing best practices, and driving continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Vibration analysis certification or comparable demonstrated vibration-analysis experience.
  • Category II or another relevant vibration credential; strong hands-on experience may offset the absence of a higher-level certification.
  • Category III or IV vibration certification.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences environments.
  • Experience supporting large, multi-building campuses.
  • Experience with integrated facilities management organizations such as JLL, CBRE, or similar companies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced vibration analysis on rotating equipment, including motors, pumps, fans, compressors, and gearboxes.
  • Diagnose complex failure modes, including bearing failures, misalignment, imbalance, and electrical anomalies, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Lead and support root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and implement failure-elimination strategies.
  • Develop and refine predictive maintenance (PdM), condition-based monitoring, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) programs.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations on capital projects, equipment upgrades, and reliability improvements.
  • Mentor junior analysts and support training to promote reliability best practices.
  • Manage other managers and conduct rounding through the operation.
  • Staff, train, and support employee development.
  • Serve as a client interface.
  • Oversee payroll and budgets for some services.
  • Oversee and coordinate projects.
  • Manage work orders and CMMS.
  • Manage mechanical systems, including HVAC.
  • Manage quality assurance and safety.
  • Back up the General Manager and assume responsibility for the account when the Director of Facilities Operations is absent.
