About The Position

Join our team, at our Building Products facility, in Dudley, NC, as a Reliability Technician within our Boiler department! The Dudley facility is one of Georgia-Pacific’s largest Building Products facilities and it manufactures Plytanium® Plywood, AC and BC, Sidings and Sturd-I-Floor® Plytanium® Plywood which is used in sheathing, roof decking, sub flooring and other specialty applications.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated the mechanical aptitude by providing support on down days and other upset conditions.
  • Ability to effectively use CMMS and Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience working with boilers, pumps, fans, valves, steam, condensate, fire protection systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, power transmission, conveyors and lubrication.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Software (Excel – updating and creating spreadsheets, Word – document creation/editing, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of MOE and MP2 software.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CMMS computer-based maintenance reporting system.
  • Basic project planning, parts acquisition, and field execution.
  • Experience in planning and performing work on boilers, fans, pumps, valves, conveyors, gears, bearings, fabrication and industrial maintenance.
  • Willing and able to work a flexible work schedule and work on-call/call-in hours for maintenance issues and over time / nights and weekends as needed and live within 45 minutes of the mill.
  • Ability to acquire GP mobile equipment operator license (wheel loader, forklift, aerial lift etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures and actively participating in safety programs
  • Serving as a role model for the team and co-workers around evaluating risk and making safe decisions on each task and expecting the team to demonstrate that same behavior.
  • Coach and mentor the team to demonstrate ownership in this area of recognizing hazards daily and taking personal action to mitigate any risk.
  • Bridge between maintenance, operations, supervision and engineering.
  • Daily monitoring of equipment performance and managing deficiencies.
  • Report on performance at the morning team meeting.
  • Lead the Boiler department maintenance effort by developing and implementing maintenance strategies to achieve and exceed machine uptime and productivity.
  • Responsible for scheduling maintenance work on down days and shutdowns, ordering parts, working with suppliers, identifying critical spare parts needs, and verifying these parts are on hand for the boiler assets
  • Communicate to the department superintendent about any maintenance issues as they arise.
  • Attend meetings scheduled to provide leadership with feedback, information, and recommend improvements and opportunities to increase equipment reliability and availability.
  • Lead a preventative maintenance program to correct mechanical / electrical problems before machine fails.
  • Inspect equipment and communicate with operations to identify and prioritize maintenance needs.
  • Utilize mechanical skills and knowledge (Boiler, pumps, fans, valves, steam, condensate, fire protection, pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, power transmission, lubrication) to maximize equipment capabilities, identify root cause failures, and apply long term solutions.
  • Perform training on boilers, pumps, fans, valves, steam, condensate, fire protection systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, power transmission, conveyors and lubrication.
  • Monitor process water treatment chemical and test reagent inventories and order to ensure successful treatment program.
