Reliability Engineer

PeratonHuntsville, AL
Onsite

About The Position

We are hiring a Reliability Engineer to provide technical support to a DoD Project Office. This position will be onsite in Huntsville, AL. The role involves producing enhanced production, quality, and reliability plans and assessing their implementation. The engineer will assess and report on system design, including maintenance practices, repair processes, engineering changes and modifications, quality of design/quality of conformance, operational capability margin, thermal coefficient of expansion, modal analysis, and logistical issues. An understanding of U.S. industrial base best practices and standards will be applied in the planning, design, and verification of system, sub-systems assembly, and component level reliability planning and readiness. The position supports the transition of a system from development to production to fielding, and assesses and improves reliability after fielding. Support is also provided in preparing test deliverables, including test plan development for reliability/reliability growth, maintainability, sustainability, quality, and interoperability tests. The engineer will develop reliability growth curves using AMSAA’s Projection Methodology – Discrete (PM2) reliability growth planning model and use a Fix Effectiveness Factor (FEF) system to evaluate, track, and report on corrective actions. The role involves assessing and reporting on the scope and results of existing test plans/programs, including hardware/software reliability engineering, reliability analysis, and reliability simulations, as well as monitoring, witnessing, and participating in test activities. Performing and reviewing reliability analyses such as reliability allocations, reliability predictions, thermal and electrical derating, Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA), and Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) is also required. Recommendations for a formal Test Analyze and Fix (TAAF) program to improve the reliability of selected configuration items will be developed. Technical reliability input will be provided as requested by the Technical Chief, PM Countermeasures. Support in drafting and delivering briefings and presentations to senior officials in the Army, the Joint Staff, and OSD is also a key part of the role.
