About The Position

The Reliability Engineer is based at the Totowa, NJ plant and reports directly to the Manager, Maintenance. This role is responsible for improving equipment uptime, reducing operational costs, strengthening food safety compliance, and supporting overall plant productivity. The position delivers measurable value through reduced downtime, improved OEE, lower waste, and extended asset life, while enabling advanced predictive maintenance and long-term operational stability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in reliability, maintenance engineering, or related manufacturing roles.
  • Experience with FMEA, RCA, predictive maintenance technologies, and CMMS systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of food manufacturing or regulated environments is a plus.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude, focusing on the customer, teamwork, and quality productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Improve equipment reliability and uptime by applying structured methodologies such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), predictive and condition‑based maintenance, and preventive maintenance optimization.
  • Develop and implement data‑driven maintenance strategies that reduce total maintenance costs and improve asset performance. This includes optimizing PM intervals, analyzing failure patterns, establishing spare‑parts thresholds, standardizing lubrication practices, and supporting component rebuild programs.
  • Drive reliability‑centered improvements that eliminate chronic losses, remove production bottlenecks, and ensure equipment operates at designed capacity to support improved OEE, reduced waste, and extended asset life.
  • Lead investigations into equipment failures and recurring issues, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are identified, implemented, and sustained to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate closely with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure reliability initiatives support food safety, regulatory compliance, and overall plant performance.
  • Monitor and analyze equipment performance data, using CMMS, downtime tracking, and predictive technologies to identify trends, prioritize work, and recommend long‑term reliability solutions.
  • Use SAP-APM Asset Performance Management software as a data-driven tool for analytics to optimize the reliability, availability, and efficiency of physical assets.
  • Support the development of predictive maintenance capabilities, including vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and other condition‑monitoring tools to proactively identify equipment degradation.
  • Champion continuous improvement by recommending and implementing best practices, new technologies, and process enhancements that strengthen long‑term operational stability.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment on priorities, progress, and reliability‑related findings.
  • Adapt to evolving business needs, recognizing that duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or new tasks may be assigned at any time to support plant operations.
