About The Position

Cabot Corporation is seeking a Reliability Engineer to join the team at the Franklin, LA location. The Reliability Engineer is responsible for driving improvements in equipment reliability, availability, and performance to support safe and efficient plant operations. This role focuses on failure prevention, root cause analysis, and optimization of maintenance strategies to maximize asset life in a carbon black manufacturing environment. This role is based fully onsite at the Franklin, LA location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor/University degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline
  • Minimum 4+ years’ experience as reliability or maintenance engineer
  • Industry experience: Chemical Manufacturing, oil & gas refining, pipeline maintenance, or another petrochemical environment
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating and stationary equipment, and industrial maintenance practices (rotating equipment experience is required)
  • Experience with reliability tools and methodologies (e.g., RCFA, FMEA, condition monitoring, PdM technologies)
  • Working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and industrial safety practices (LOTO, confined space, hot work)
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset
  • Effective communication and ability to collaborate across operations, maintenance, and engineering
  • Knowledge of PSM and industrial safety standards

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications in vibration monitoring and/or CMRP (Certified maintenance reliability professional) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Identify, recommend, and implement improvements to optimize plant performance, including volume, yield, quality, and equipment reliability
  • Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and ensure corrective actions are implemented to eliminate repeat failure
  • Provides advice and support to resolve problems.
  • Uses statistical techniques to improve process capability; uses failure analysis methodology to investigate, find root causes, recommend and implement equipment modifications and upgrades and/or implement process improvements.
  • Analyze equipment performance data and failure trends to drive continuous improvement
  • Provide support of site mechanical integrity program by investigating equipment problems and eliminating recurrence of failures that will improve plant performance and reliability.
  • Reviews preventive maintenance plans to ensure optimum scheduling.
  • Implements Predictive Maintenance Programs to monitor the condition of the plant and equipment to maximize plant safety and reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Assists in the design, procurement and installation of new equipment.
  • May develop plant-wide Standard Operating Procedures for process and equipment operation.
  • Supports and implement new product and process runs and prepare relevant documentation.
  • Work with site Capital project managers and Finance department to create assets in the maintenance management system and provide guidance on asset setup, disposal.
  • Assign PM’s, spare parts, etc in the maintenance management system during the project handover process.
  • Conducts “end-of-life” assessments making recommendations for equipment repairs and replacements.
  • Assists with equipment repairs of stationary and rotating equipment by working with original equipment manufacturers, after-market suppliers, and outside repair shops.
  • Support Process Safety Management (PSM), including MOC, PHA participation, and incident investigations
  • Monitors maintenance projects and progress, external contractors in accordance with all site regulations and standards.
  • Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care® Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001® technical specification, as applicable to the site/region.
