Join our Reliability Sciences team where you will support the design and development of the BIT (Built In Test) architecture, hardware/software, strategies, and methodologies for new and existing Electronic Warfare products. The position scope may also expand to include performing other reliability tasks such as MIL-HDBK-217 predictions, Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis, and Failure Analysis. You will work on teams developing and producing electro-optical, communication, avionics, and Electronic Counter Measures for ground, space, airborne, and shipboard platforms. BAE Systems’ Reliability Sciences Engineers are involved with every stage of the equipment lifecycle from concept through development, Integration & Test, production, and field support. The selected candidate will have significant interaction across the company, including program office, all engineering disciplines, and production functions, which will provide for a fast-paced, educational, and fulfilling experience. Your efforts will have a positive impact on front-line warfighter effectiveness and daily quality of life. In this Built In Test (BIT) / Reliability Engineer opportunity, you will make impacts in the following ways: Work with a cross-functional team to develop BIT and test automation strategies and methodologies. Apply your engineering skills and education to investigate, analyze, and evaluate system designs for proper testability. Ensure the BIT design is adequate to meet customer requirements for fault detection and fault isolation. Develop Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) artifacts, including activity diagrams and sequence diagrams, that represent the BIT design. Influence product development by supporting the design team to establish BIT functions, test interface requirements, and diagnostic features. Support BIT integration activities by testing or overseeing the testing of BIT features, investigating results, and implementing corrective actions to the BIT design. Participate in designing algorithms that predict the remaining useful life of the system (prognostics). Plan and conduct formal BIT Demonstration activities by defining the representative fault list from the testability study, defining the fault insertion methods, performing dry-runs to test the fault insertion methods, and modifying BIT software and diagnostic rules based on the results of testing. Present BIT design and analysis at internal and customer design reviews. Provide BIT technical support to SW Engineering during SW implementation, Production during ATP, and Field Service Engineers during platform integration. Perform root cause investigations and implement corrective actions. Initiate, justify, and implement BIT-related enhancements needed for improved demonstrated reliability and fault detection, increased production capacity, improved test yields, reduced cycle time, and optimized depot diagnostics. May perform Design-for-Reliability and Maintainability, including reliability and maintainability modeling and analysis and assessments requiring the full use and wide application of engineering theories, concepts, and precedents. May perform failure trend analysis, failure investigation, and root cause analysis. Chair the Failure Review Board activities. Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.
