Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based communications with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This multi-orbit constellation will consist of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations worldwide. Blue Origin is seeking a Reliability Engineer to join the AI&T team on the TeraWave program. In this role you will own hardware reliability tracking, lead FMEA/FMECA activities, and perform failure analysis on test anomalies to drive systemic improvements across the vehicle and production line. You will translate bench reliability data into production acceptance criteria and qualification analyses that support high-rate satellite manufacturing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 4+ years of experience in reliability engineering, failure analysis, or systems engineering in an aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronics program.
• Experience developing or supporting FMEA/FMECA analyses for complex hardware systems.
• Background in failure analysis methods and root cause investigation for hardware anomalies.
• Familiarity with reliability metrics (MTBF, failure rate, availability) and standard reliability prediction methods (MIL-HDBK-217 or equivalent).
• Experience with nonconformance management, anomaly disposition, and corrective action processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present reliability findings and recommendations to program leadership.

Nice To Haves

• Experience on a satellite, launch vehicle, or defense electronics program in a reliability or systems engineering role.
• Background supporting production line qualification, acceptance criteria development, or qualification by similarity analyses.
• Familiarity with reliability growth models (Duane, AMSAA) and their application to hardware development programs.
• Experience with reliability analysis tools (Relex, ITEM ToolKit, PTC Windchill Quality, or equivalent).
• Background with AS9100, ECSS reliability standards, or MIL-STD-785.
• Experience coordinating preventive maintenance programs for complex test equipment or GSE.

Responsibilities

• Track vehicle and VTB hardware reliability metrics: MTBF, failure rates, maintenance history, and spare utilization; maintain reliability dashboards and report trends to program leadership.
• Manage preventive maintenance schedules for all bench and test equipment; coordinate with the test team on PM execution and documentation.
• Lead or support FMEA/FMECA activities to inform Design for Reliability (DFR) decisions for the vehicle and production line.
• Perform failure analysis on test anomalies; identify systemic failure modes and recommend design or process corrective actions.
• Develop production line reliability acceptance criteria, incoming inspection requirements, and qualification by similarity analyses.
• Support production line qualification by establishing reliability growth tracking, test escape prevention processes, and qualification test matrix adequacy reviews.
• Interface with design engineering, manufacturing, and quality on reliability requirements, failure mode mitigation, and corrective action closure.
• Maintain reliability analysis documentation and support program design reviews with reliability data.
