MACOM Technology Solutions Holdings, Inc.Durham, NC
$126,000 - $198,000

About The Position

The Principal Reliability Engineer will lead in a “hands on manner” the execution of semiconductor process and product qualification projects. These projects will include compound semiconductor technologies such as GaN, and GaAs, integrated systems (board/module level) etc. They will be a technical contributor on a diverse range of complex technical problems and identify innovative solutions. Ability to execute multiple concurrent complex qualification projects independently with limited guidance. Must be capable of successfully performing in a demanding, fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in EE, EET, Physics or Material Science; graduate degree preferred (PhD is well regarded)
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in semiconductor reliability and failure analysis work.
  • Detailed knowledge of semiconductor device physics, reliability and associated failure modes and mechanisms, predictive analysis.
  • Experience with RF and DC Accelerated Life Test, HTOL, and their related PCB design, test fixture design and setup, and analysis of data
  • Advanced knowledge of semiconductor processing, preferably with experience in GaN based processes.
  • Experience with RF test equipment, such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and power meters.
  • An understanding of high speed RF and microwave characterization.
  • Problem solving skills - must be capable of analyzing weakly defined requirements, ultimately defining the issues and developing long and short term solutions
  • Extensive statistical software experience (JMP, Minitab, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of statistical sampling plans used for inspection or test of components along with the ability to perform statistical data analysis on large data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-practiced organization and planning skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and lead within a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively rationalize decisions so projects move along to completion

Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct qualification projects of new semiconductor processes and products across a range of innovative technologies in accordance with JEDEC and other related standards
  • Develop and conduct detailed semiconductor device characterisation to improve the reliability of products, processes or to solve complex technical problems, and demonstrate the ability to guide institutional learning on these methods
  • Design and conduct accelerated evaluations of reliability using temperature, voltage, current & other stresses
  • Perform advanced statistical analysis of life-test and qualification data; generate clear, data-driven technical reports and presentations.
  • Interpret reliability risks and recommend innovative improvement/mitigation strategies to enable process and product roadmap schedules
  • Be a lead technical contributor in identifying and implementing root-cause analysis on qualification failures/customer returns across existing product portfolio and within new products in process.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to equipment maintenance, equipment and test set ups
  • Must be able to communicate difficult technical concepts to both technical and non-technical internal and external customers

Benefits

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
