This role is responsible for developing innovative propulsion technology solutions, with a primary focus on the testing and validation of electrified and conventional axle components and systems. The position also involves developing, validating, and sustaining complex powertrain components and systems that set industry benchmarks for performance, efficiency, cost, reliability, and safety. The role requires analyzing failure rates, lifecycle durability, and reliability data, and recommending design/test changes based on reliability insights to ensure product reliability over its lifecycle. Additionally, the engineer will identify and implement ideas to lower costs and increase powertrain efficiency while ensuring product reliability, draw conclusions and provide recommendations of technical results to management, create project plans and timelines, and assist management with defining budget requirements. The role also entails leading the development, validation, and release of mechanical components and systems with interfaces to mechatronics systems for conventional and alternative powertrain systems, utilizing structured problem-solving methods to identify root causes for powertrain system issues and integrate corrective actions into new and existing designs. The engineer will independently schedule work, including issuing work orders, monitoring progress, and resolving problems to ensure timely completion of projects, and conduct and document project work. This role involves leading cross-functional activities with regional and global counterparts in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Sales, Purchasing, and Global Suppliers, and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural and international environment.
